Welcome to IKAN
We are a citizens' network of people working towards coexisting with wildlife including dolphins and whales on Japan's coasts.
We call for proper and just conservation management in Japan, where regulations tend to favor the whaling and dolphin hunting industry.
We are also exploring ways to obtain information with increased transparency, and to involve more people.
Please join and support us.
23.7 gram!?
People know that Japan is a country that eats whale meat, but Japanese people may not have much of an appetite for it after all.The amount an average Japanese person eats in one year is a mere 23.7g – that is virtually the same weight
as half a chocolate bar or a slice of ham.
Hard to believe?
